Sports Hall Athletics – Small Schools

News Blog

Over the past month, 9 regional Sports Hall Athletics events have brought energy and excitement to Donegal, with 59 schools and approximately 1,062 children participating. This initiative has focused on developing fundamental movement skills in an engaging and inclusive environment, making it a resounding success. The Sports Hall Athletics programme is coordinated by Donegal Sports Partnership in conjunction with Athletics Ireland & Donegal Athletic County Board.

An integral part of this year’s programme was the support provided by 7 Transition Year groups from secondary schools across the county who were part of the TY Young Leader Programme and played a key role in delivering the events. We extend our gratitude to the students and staff of the following schools:

  • St. Columba’s College
  • Abbey Vocational School
  • Rosses Community School
  • Carndonagh Community School
  • Mulroy College
  • St. Eunan’s College
  • Loreto Convent

A special thank you to our host venues across the county for providing their outstanding facilities: Finn Valley, Abbey Vocational School, Ray Community Centre, Carndonagh GAA, and Aura Leisure Centre.

As the programme progresses, 12 schools have qualified for the county final, which is set to take place on December 10th. Congratulations to the following schools for making it through:
