Sport 4 Empowerment (S4E)

News Blog

Earlier this year Donegal Sports Partnership commenced the Sport 4 Empowerment (S4E) programme. S4E aims to develop innovative social inclusion initiatives through the use of sport and physical activity, focusing specifically on individuals at risk of social exclusion and poverty.  This exciting initiative is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, made possible through the €11 million grant awarded to Sport Ireland under the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) programme.

In collaboration with Donegal Domestic Violence Services, the S4E programme in Donegal is targeted at women and their children who have experienced domestic violence. This initiative takes a holistic approach to social inclusion, using sport and physical activity as powerful tools to foster connection, empowerment, and well-being.

The report on the programme to date , highlights its various aspects and includes feedback directly from the women involved. We hope this provides a clear overview and captures the essence of the initiative.
