SOCIA-BALL – Basketball for fun!

News Blog

The programme provides a non-competitive #JustPlay opportunity for females to engage with the sport and being physically active. The emphasis is on fun, socializing and moving in a safe environment.
We recommend that clubs run this in 6-8 week blocks (1hour per week) and this could be run multiple times per year. The programme is aimed at women aged 18+ who do not want to play competitive basketball.

We also encourage clubs to provide a social basketball programme for teenage girls aged 13-17 who may not want to play competitively but would like to come along for an hour a week to take part.

SOCIA-Ball is all inclusive, it should welcome all those who do not currently play any form of competitive club basketball and would like to play. The player cannot be registered as a BI player with any BI club. However, past players are welcome so long as they are no longer actively playing club basketball.

All SOCIA-Ball training sessions are fun orientated with the focus on learning the skills of our game, developing social skills and providing an opportunity for women and girls to be physically active.
What do I need to take part – players:
Just bring yourself and some water. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and above all else have fun and meet new people.
