Female Leadership Programme: Beyond 20×20

Donegal Sports Partnership is committed to developing strategies to increase women’s participation in Sport in the county and to provide opportunities for women to engage in meaningful programmes which will build towards a lasting and positive relationship with Sport.

20×20 Campaign

The 20×20 campaign is in full swing at the moment with three key objectives – a 20% increase in media coverage of women in sport, a 20% increase in female participation at all levels of sport and a 20% increase in attendance at women’s games and events by 2020. The Beyond 20×20 programme will link into the overall objective of the campaign in providing pathways and opportunities for females to develop their skills, gain meaningful experiences and to actively stay involved in sport at whatever level they feel comfortable at.

The Purpose of the Programme

The Beyond 20×20 programme is being developed to support females already involved in or interested in getting involved in sport at a level which will suit the individual’s needs.

Focus will be in the following areas:

  • Coaching
  • Refereeing/ Officiating
  • Administration
  • Media/ Communication

Donegal Sports Partnership’s aim is to equip female club volunteers in becoming more effective and efficient in their role, while creating invaluable experiences for those involved in the programme.  The programme will focus on areas such as;

  • Developing Leadership Skills
  • Communication, Confidence and Resilience
  • Health & Wellbeing – maintaining a healthy mind and a healthy body
  • Mentoring and placement opportunities

Who is the Programme for?

The programme is open to females 16 + with passion, commitment and a genuine interest in sport at all levels and with a view to developing a concept of ‘Sport for Life’.  Participants are encouraged to apply from all sports, at all levels.
