Information and consultation evenings on the Community Sports Facilities Fund (CSFF) for sports clubs in Donegal will be held next week.

The Lake of Shadows Hotel in Buncrana is the venue for the event on Monday, March 30th at 6 pm for Inishowen clubs, while the evening for clubs in the Letterkenny-Milford and Stranorlar Electoral Areas will be held in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny on Wednesday, April 1st at 7.30 pm.

The sessions, which will be hosted by the Minister of State for Sport and Postal Policy, Charlie McConalogue, are aimed at assisting local clubs and groups who will be applying for funding through the CSFF.

Speaking ahead of the information evenings, Minister McConalogue said: “I’m looking forward to engaging with clubs across Donegal where participation in sport is continuing to increase, thanks to the excellent work being done so many hard-working volunteers.”

“I am encouraging clubs, community groups and sporting organisations to have representatives in attendance. The event will focus on giving advice and answering questions to assist local clubs as they prepare to apply for funding through the Community Sports Facilities Fund,” he added.

“The sessions are good opportunities to inform clubs about how the CSFF operates. Applications for the next round of the CSFF are set to open in late Spring. It is anticipated that this round will particularly target areas and sports that have been under-invested in over the years,” the Donegal Minister of State commented.

The CSFF provides grants to assist in the development or refurbishment of sports facilities and the provision of sports equipment. Its purpose is to develop high-quality, accessible, safe, well-designed, sustainable facilities in appropriate locations and to provide appropriate equipment to help maximise participation in sport and physical recreation.

“The government is committed to supporting clubs with their plans to develop and improve their facilities through the next round of the CSSF.

“The government’s objective is to prepare clubs for applications which will open in late May or early June,” Minister McConalogue added.
