Donegal Sports Partnership is committed to developing strategies to increase women’s participation in Sport in the county and to provide opportunities for women to engage in meaningful programmes which will build towards a lasting and positive relationship with Sport.
20×20 Campaign
The 20×20 campaign is in full swing at the moment with three key objectives – a 20% increase in media coverage of women in sport, a 20% increase in female participation at all levels of sport and a 20% increase in attendance at women’s games and events by 2020. The Beyond 20×20 programme will link into the overall objective of the campaign in providing pathways and opportunities for females to develop their skills, gain meaningful experiences and to actively stay involved in sport at whatever level they feel comfortable at.
The Purpose of the Programme
The Beyond 20×20 programme is being developed to support females already involved in or interested in getting involved in sport at a level which will suit the individual’s needs. Focus will be in the following areas:
- Coaching
- Refereeing/ Officiating
- Administration
- Media/ Communication
Donegal Sports Partnership’s aim is to equip female club volunteers in becoming more effective and efficient in their role, while creating invaluable experiences for those involved in the programme. The programme will focus on areas such as;
- Developing Leadership Skills
- Communication, Confidence and Resilience
- Health & Wellbeing – maintaining a healthy mind and a healthy body
- Mentoring and placement opportunities
Who is the Programme for?
The programme is open to females 16 + with passion, commitment and a genuine interest in sport at all levels and with a view to developing a concept of ‘Sport for Life’. Participants are encouraged to apply from all sports, at all levels. From those that have a current role in their Club to those who want to get involved with no experience.
Programme Costs
The programme is funded by Donegal Sports Partnership and Sport Ireland which will allow participants to attend all seminars for free.

Programme Details
The programme will run from March to October 2020. Participants are asked to commit to the programme, with attendance compulsory for all workshops. Participants will be asked to attend core workshops over 6 weekends with 3 evenings specific to their strand. Participants will focus on a specific strand of personal development and can choose between four options: Coaching, Officiating, Administration, Media/ communication. Participants will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through the programme.

How can I apply?
